One Mann's Opinion

Happy April! It seems that the snow from Feb–March has disappeared and brought us only sunshine. What a wonderful time to go for a walk and breathe in the fresh spring air.

This month we’re featuring one of New York City’s biggest bridal shops—Kleinfeld Bridal. Ronnie Rothstein, Wayne Rogers, and Mara Urshel have been the proud owners of this reputable shop since 1999, although the shop has a long history dating back to the 1940s.

And in case you didn’t know, Kleinfeld Bridal is the bridal shop featured in the TLC series, Say Yes to the Dress. Turn to page 42 to learn more about this beautiful store and the wonderful people who work there.

As always, we have some interesting New Yorkers to tell you about. This month we caught up with the magical Oz Pearlman, the musical Dion Roy, the satirical Ray Jessel, and the fashionable Jill Martin, among others. Each of our profiles is unique in their own way and I know you’ll enjoy learning about their beginnings as well as their goals.

We’re also showcasing some great events this month, one in which I had the honor of receiving the Spirit of New York Award (The American Liver Foundation). It was a humbling experience for me.

Besides our profiles we also have fascinating articles on Herzog Hospital, the Jewish Braille Institute, Max Belenitsky and his Healthy Me brand, and The Memory Project: Loss, Memory, History, Art an exhibition being showcased at The Anne Frank Center.

This month The Mann Foundation is hosting its Fifth Annual Mann of the Year awards. We’ve made some changes this year in that we will be having a Gala Cocktail event with food stations galore. We’ve also revamped our journal and turned it into an e-journal so no more carrying around a 100+ page book. Visit www.MannoftheYear.com to learn more about our event and the changes we’ve made.

Proceeds from this event benefit the Mount Sinai ADRC (Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center) as we continue our efforts to find a cure for Alzheimer’s.

Before I close I’d like to wish everyone a blessed Shavuot (May 19th).

Regards,
Jeff
